Don't be a Richard

I knew of some strange English guys; like, (the) John and (the) Dick... Today I know of (an) Eddy:

1. A circular movement of water, counter to a main current, causing a small whirlpool
2. A movement of wind, fog, or smoke resembling this

I'll always be in need of (a) John now and then; guess I'll always need (my) Dick; but it wouldn't be wise to hang out with a Eddy. Just in case.
