Everything is illuminated di L. Schrieber (2005)
☻--
The synopsis: "A young Jewish American man endeavors to find the woman who saved his grandfather during World War II in a Ukrainian village".
Everything is jewish here, except Elijah Wood, with thick eye-magnifying glasses, and I'm trying to figure out the reason of this choice, since most of the actors in Hollywood are jews, why the heck they wanted a guy from Iowa to play the part of the ultimate jew character, the one who travels to Ukraine to collect living memories and a grasshopper from his jewish past:
Perhaps was just to link the most famous of the non-jewish modern hero (Frodo in Lord of the Rings) to the symbols and mysteries of the J culture?
Who knows, but, who cares? To me this is kind of a relief, even though this flick is -more or less- a crap.
Two out of ten on IMDB, which means that my smiley up there is all for Elijah, and a bit of it goes to Sammy Davies Junior, Jr.:
