Feels like I've dreamt of this movie, a few years ago, yet it's not the same one; I remember foreign people in my movie, German, Brazilian, French people but no Americans at all; yet, this was the kind; people walking down the streets, and talking, meeting and leaving, doing things; just like people do. In Austin, too.

My dream had a title, was kinda tv show CG stuff title and it was "The Game"; it was the title of the movie I was watching in my dream, perhaps on TV (or PC) then it was what I was doing there, just playing like everybody else; until I can tell it this way, of course, i was playing (even if I have to use Italic) that Game. Just like everybody else, in the dream so as in the movie.

And it wasn't fun.

Neither Linklater's movie is. But it is as close to life as no other movies is; how weird that this Texan streetlife jigsaw about ordinary American outcasts doesn't remind me of anything real, of this "real life" -of the Italic outcast- but a dream.

That wasn't fun, but it was a good dream; and of course, Slacker is a good movie; for an original idea is the greatest thing you could ever find in a movie; even better, it is free, complete, HD, with no ads or intermissions, on YouTube. Watch it. Guess it won't remind you of a past dream, but it won't remind you of a past movie neither, so you just can't ask for more.

Dopo questa reazione all'americana (che è meno peggio di un eczema) scopro su IMDB che Linklater è stato poi autore di Waking Life e A scanner darkly; e certamente il primo -che è un film letteralmente ricalcato, come pure l'altro- è alquanto simile nell'impianto narrativo-o nella mancanza di esso- a quello di stasera, ma tanto la carica innovativa (10 anni prima di W.L.) di Slacker quanto la dissimulazione grafica di entrambi i successivi non mi hanno permesso di riconoscere la mano felice di questo interessante moviemaker Texano; per quanto mi riguarda, è il migliore dei tre, ed è una delle migliori sorprese filmiche (ovvero, di film trovati "per caso" e visti senza sapere di cosa si trattasse) del 2009.

Per intuirne un possibile significato logico, dovremmo sapere che slacker sta per "person who avoids work (especially British English), or (primarily in North American English) an educated person who is viewed as an underachiever". Chi, tra gli svariati fannulloni di Austin TX ritratti nel flusso filmico, si possa considerare "infingardo", e chi invece "persona f. che dà un rendimento inferiore al previsto.", compreso il tizio qualunque in apertura interpretato dallo stesso Linklater, sta allo spettatore giudicare.

Al momento mi pare strano che questo film mi abbia da subito ricordato il mio sogno poliglotta-multinazionale intitolato "Il gioco", soprattutto perché io, comunque lo si intenda, sono un vero slacker. Tant'è che adesso vado a pesca dei vecchi film di Linklater -e subito, malgrado il nome- nel torrent.
